  • Food Assistance (Call 1-800-AGE-LINE or 1-800-243-5463)
    • EAC Senior Centers Meals (in the center and delivered to eligible Homebound) 
    • Farmers Market Coupons: The goal of this program is to provide fresh, nutritious, unprepared, locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs from Alabama Farmers Market Authority eligible farmers markets and roadside stands to low-income seniors and nutritionally at risk women and children.  Go to this website for more information or to apply: http://www.fma.alabama.gov/VoucherPrograms.aspx.
    • SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program): This Food Assistance Program's purpose is to end hunger and improve nutrition by providing monthly benefits to eligible low income households to help them buy the food they need for good health. 
       
  • Prescription Assistance:
  • Senior Activity Centers: These centers provide activities, fun, fellowship, volunteer opportunities, and access to health and nutritional information.  For those that qualify, there are a limited number of lunches at the center and delivered to homebound clients.

  • Transportation Services
    • Medicaid Recipients:  The Alabama Medicaid Non-Emergency Transportation (NET) Program helps eligible recipients pay for rides to dental and doctor offices, hospitals, and other medical facilities when the service is also covered by Medicaid. Recipients with special ride needs for dialysis, radiation, or other treatments should contact the NET program at (256) 549-7702.
    • City of Piedmont
      • Contact Mr. Bobby Joe Glover at 256-310-9432 for an appointment to be picked up.
      • Hours of Operation: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday
      • Service area includes an eight mile radius extending from the center of Piedmont.
      • Cost: $1.00 to and from 
    • Paratransit 
      • This service picks people up at their residence.  It is for people with disabilities who cannot access the fixed route due to their disability and their caregivers that live in Anniston, Hobson City, Jacksonville, Oxford, or Weaver.
      • To apply, clients must complete an application and be approved by an Advisory Board.  Approval can be permanent, conditional, or temporary.  Click here for an application, or contact Shane Christian or Health Compton at 256-237-6741 for more information.
      • After you are approved for services:

        • Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday

    • Fixed Route for Anniston, Hobson City, Oxford, and Weaver

        • $1.00 – General Public
        • $0.50 – for children, elderly, and Medicare and Medicaid recipients

    • Rural Transportation 
      • This is for people that live outside the city limits of Anniston, Hobson City, Jacksonville, Oxford, Piedmont, and Weaver.
      • With this service, you call to make an appointment.  The bus will pick you up at your house.
